Sculpting the Miniature
Jewellery photography is one of the most challenging forms of applied art. It demands a near-surgical attention to detail, but the final image should still feel light and full of emotion.
When I photograph jewellery, I’m really exploring how light interacts on a tiny scale.
Gems, precious metals, and intricate watch movements each require their own approach. I use light not just to brighten, but to shape—showing off the sparkle of a diamond or the soft sheen of brushed gold.
Shaping Stories: The Art of Jewellery Portraiture
Once jewellery is worn, the photo becomes more than a still life, it turns into a portrait. Here, my experience as a portrait photographer and my understanding of the human form really matter.
A « Jewellery Portrait » is all about blending the model and the piece in perfect harmony.
My creative process highlights the elegance of a gesture, the curve of a neck, or the intensity of a look, elevating the jewellery to centre stage.
The piece isn’t just an accessory—it becomes the star of the image, telling its own visual story.
